"Don't Take It Personally When Friends Don't Support Your Dreams. Don't Hold Grudges Either. Some People Struggle to Support Their Own Dreams. Just Keep Pushing and Create Something of Value. Be the Ultimate Believer in Yourself. #OWS" -Neo Pitso
Came across this status while scrolling through Facebook a couple days ago and the most upsetting thing about this status is that it's often those closest to us that show the least amount of support, but alas as it says don't hold grudges or take it personally.
Being dependant on the total support of others is setting yourself up for disappointment. That's why you have to support you, cheer and clap the loudest for you. In order to do this you have to understand and believe in what you're doing. You have to have undoubtable faith in yourself.
Three easy steps to supporting yourself are
- Change the way you view yourself from a negative self image to a positive. You can do this through daily affirmations, I'm awesome, I'm a hard worker, I will be successful, I'm beautiful. I'm a great dancer...I'm sure you get the gist of what I'm saying. Trust me that once you start believing it and living it, others will do the same.
2. Take pride in your work, produce outstanding work and promote it shamelessly. Dedicate time to your craft, study it to understand it, know what you're going to achieve. When people ask what you do, mention the 9-5 that helps you stay alive and rave about the 5-9 that gets your blood pumping(if that is the case). Don't be afraid to showcase your work to the world.
3. While doing all of this remember to give thanks to those that have supported you and return the favour! Clap for the homies, celebrate their victories and encourage them to keep fighting in the low times.
4. Take time to tune off and relax, we don't want to burn out. Be sure to treat yo'self for all hard work you've done. We tend to get caught up in the grind we forget to enjoy life. So celebrate the small victories. Celebrate you.
